Celebrate those who work hard all year long with the Museum!
Railroad workers laid the very rails which sparked the spread of industry across the United States and changed the nation forever. To honor these railroaders and the many working-class heroes that we all depend on today, we’re hosting special programming including Mile One Express Train Rides along the nation’s first mile of commercial railroad, and our Working on the Railroad Tour—a guided tour about those who labored on the railroad, supporting the expansion, upkeep, and innovation of riding on the rails.

Mile One Express Train Ride

An essential part of the National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation experience, our Mile One Express Train Ride gives the visitors the chance to take a train ride along the nation’s first mile of commercial railroad! Tickets for the train ride can be purchased on-site here at the Museum.
Ice Cream Monday

Ice Cream…Monday? Yep! Keep cool and take a ride on the Mile One Express while you satisfy your sweet tooth. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to enjoy a treat while you ride. *Train ride tickets are available for purchase on-site.
"Working on the Railroad: The B&O and the Labor Movement" Public Tour
September 7 @ 1 PM
This tour will explore the unique history of working for the railroad in America and the evolution of worker rights from the 19th to the 20th centuries, with particular focus on the employees of the B&O Railroad.
