Homeschool Day - National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation

Join us for our second Homeschool Day of the school year!

For small homeschool groups or individual homeschool families, we offer special Homeschool Days throughout the school year.

Throughout the day, engage in educational programing focused on history with activities including story time, tours, and workshops. Homeschool Days are special days for homeschool students to experience field trips at the B&O!

Lunch options for Homeschool Day are available at the B&O Café by pre-order or walk-in.

Admission:

Pre-registration required. FREE for Maryland Students. $18 for Non-Maryland Students. $10 per adult.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.

11:30AM	*Tour*	Fast, Safe, and Smart: Modern Railroads	In this tour, kids will visit our new exhibits to learn about the present and future technologies of American railroading, including how technology is infused in Rail yards and what modern railroad engineers do.	Grades 3+	Roundhouse Info Desk

2 to 2:30PM	*Workshop*	Carbon Cycle Workshop	In this workshop, kids will assume the role of an atom of carbon and travel through the life cycle of that atom of carbon, producing a take-home memento along the way, to understand the effects that carbon has on our environment. 2:30 to 3 PM	Tour	From Slavery to Civil Rights: The African American Railroading Legacy	On this tour, we will delve into the storied history of African Americans on the railroad. Using our collection of historic train cars including a Civil War Era steam engine and a Jim Crow Era segregated passenger car, we will reflect on the history of African American railroading over the past 200 years.
