The B&O Birthday Bash - National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation

It’s the 199th birthday of the B&O Railroad, and you’re invited to the celebration of the century! 

Help us celebrate the legacy of the B&O and the wonder of American railroading.

Join us for a day packed with fun and festivities—from an exclusive archival display, tours, a workshop, crafts, cupcakes, a special gift, and more! There’s something for every rail fan—young and young at heart.

But don’t be late! Arrive before noon for our epic balloon drop, where special prizes will come floating down from above! One lucky winner will receive four tickets to Day Out with Thomas™!

Event Schedule:

  • 10 am-4 pm: Unlocked tours for the newly restored B&O No. 3316 begin
  • 10 am-Noon: Special display from the archives
  • 10 am-4 pm: Time capsule activity and birthday wishes for the trains
  • 11 am: Morse code jewelry making workshop
  • Noon: Balloon drop and cupcakes for all our guests

Celebrate the railroad that shaped a nation—and join us as we roll toward our 200th year on the rails!
