The National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation is a place of inclusion and diversity. For our neurodivergent visitors, we make the Museum accessible through dedicated sensory programming throughout the year and accommodations for both everyday visits and events like Day Out with Thomas™ and The Polar Express™.
We are investing in making the National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation a space for everyone!
On select days, there are opportunities for sensory-friendly train rides on the Mile One Express, sensory-friendly tours, and access to resources provided by community organizations who support families with special needs children.
In addition to the five stationary sensory kits located throughout the National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation, Mobile Sensory Kits are available for checkout at the front desk to decrease sensory overload with tactile and calming resources while out exploring our campus.
